Pot stores rolling in to seven Manitoba rural communities – Winnipeg

Seven rural Manitoba communities will soon be home to a pot shop.

The province announced Friday cannabis stores will open in Altona, Flin Flon, Lac du Bonnet, Niverville, Swan River, Virden and the RM of Russell-Binscarth.

More than 100 potential retailers have pre-qualified as part of the province’s latest roll-out of pot stores. Those applicants will then take part in a random draw based on the location they prefer.

The government’s goal is for 90 per cent of Manitobans to have a recreational cannabis store located within a 30-minute drive, by October 2020.

More than a dozen Manitoba municipalities say ‘no’ to retail sale of pot

The province has not yet said when the next round of openings will be approved.
