City of Kawartha Lakes drivers face cannabis, impaired charges – Peterborough

Two City of Kawartha Lakes drivers face charges following vehicle stops by OPP on the weekend.

On Saturday, officers were conducting a RIDE program on Fingerboard Road near the village of Little Britain when an officer approached a vehicle entering the program.

The investigation led to the discovery of 14 grams of open cannabis inside the vehicle, police said.

David Wooley, 35, of the City of Kawartha Lakes, was charged with driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available contrary to the Cannabis Control Act.

On Sunday, an officer noticed a vehicle travelling on Highway 7 being operated in an “erratic manner.”

The officer managed to get the driver to stop his vehicle. An investigation revealed the driver was allegedly impaired.

Adam Hockey, 27, of Lindsay, was arrested and charged with operation of a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level over 80 mg and driving a motor vehicle with an unsealed container of liquor.

His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

Hockey is scheduled to appear in court in Lindsay on March 14.
